Gulnora Dordona, the only child and heir-apparent of a brutal, central-Asian dictator, has one dream: she wants to be taken seriously as an Emily Dickinson scholar. She’s organized the first-ever Dickinson conference in her country and invited the top people in the field to come, all expenses paid. As the scholars converge on Tashkent they bring questions, quarrels, and outsize egos with them. In the second act, ghostly entities, Dickinson’s friends and family compulsively revisit a cascade of love affairs, revolts and betrayals set off by the discovery of the poet’s manuscripts after her death. Emily looks on, comments, and occasionally participates, but she can’t save them. As conflicts in the 19th century prefigure those of the 21st it seems that Emily’s poems vector a kind of madness — a madness that replicates itself thirteen decades later.

Booked as a ‘STUNT SELECT’ (aka ‘glorified extra’) I got to work on this epic film.. Though I do not anticipate being recognized in any of the END-O-DE-WORLD scenes I had taken part of, I do feel I (as did the core group of ‘glorified extras’) had earned this shirt… And we will be wearing it as a solid gung-ho group (as we were charging the ark) to the screening of said film.. 🙂 GO ELEPHANTS!! (that was my animal group..) Elephants were the test dummies for the ‘RAIN’ (used in all of the major epic group charge scenes..) Therefore.. The ELEPHANT group is the most bad-ass. Just sayin…

Meme is a film about how we form and share ideas. The first feature film from writer/director Sean Mannion,Meme, is about Jennifer, a graphic designer who finds herself involved in the VHS trading underground and a television obsessed cult after seeking out the creator of a homemade tape she finds at a video trading meet-up. The film will be shooting in New York City in October and November of 2013 and is targeted at festivals. The filmmakers are currently seeking to raise $16,000 via the Kickstarter platform, the campaign ends October 9, 2013.

The dramatic reading of the OH SO critically acclaimed film ‘MONKEY BUSINESS’…
Let me give you some quick background on the video. A few weeks back I went prop hunting at Greenpoint Bargains in Brooklyn. It’s a thrift shop that is just chock full of weird and interesting stuff. Everything from bowling balls to VHS camcorders. I was looking for VCRs, preferably working ones. While I was looking in a little nook of the store I saw a plastic tub full of what looked like VHS tapes. I reached down and grabbed it and yes, it was a plastic tub full of VHS tapes. Specifically, it was a plastic tub full of VHS porn released between 1983 and 1990. I had to get them. Where else was I going to find something like this. I showed the box to actresses Sarah Schoofs and Lauren A. Kennedy and they came up with the idea that for promo videos the actors for Meme should do dramatic readings of the VHS box text. And that’s what we’re doing.

What’s more to watch out for in GUT? Sarah Schoofs! Schoofs plays the part of Lily—Tom’s devoted wife who is more of a wife than Tom deserves. Lily (as played by Schoofs) is the type of woman with whom every man would love to be bound in matrimony. She’s intelligent, a good mother, loves and dotes on her husband despite his obnoxiousness, waits to pamper him whenever he comes home, and yes, is eternally amorous. What greater extreme of devotion and maternal qualities are there to add to a character’s wife, for the effect of making him all the more tragic in under appreciating her? I say none. Schoofs plays her part with outstanding power, leaving her character one to remember rather than forget.

“I was so disturbed by this film, especially of the final victims that as soon as the credits started to roll, I removed the DVD from my machine and shredded it. I felt dirty and disgusted while viewing it. I knew the film was fiction, but it didn’t look or feel like it. It was almost watching a story within a story and it felt real at the end.
This type of film is not one I would feel good about saying, “I loved it”. This is not a put down to the filmmaker, but really a praise, because their work so disturbed me. So much that I don’t ever want to see it again. Would I recommend it to my peers? Most likely and I have already done so. I would have non-reviewers think before purchasing or renting this film. It will get under your skin and embed its images subliminally into your mind and it was hard to wipe those images away. If you like disturbing plots and slow burns, then you may find this to be more to your liking.”

Gut is totally my type of horror film. It is a Hitchcockian suspense picture that is both challenging, yet fascinating. It is bizarre, yet plausible. It is quietly tragic, yet darkly humored. It combines the creepy eroticism of a David Cronenberg picture with the building tension of a Michael Haneke film. It explores the underlying failure of the American dream with a truly perplexing scenario.

Aside from Vail there are also rock solid performances from Nicolas Wilder, as Dan, and Sarah Scoofs, as Tom’s wife. These two roles are vital to the progression of the story, with the two characters both pulling Tom in different directions; normality versus the fantasy (or is it?) return to childhood, with Dan’s refusal to move forward with his life.”
